Our Story

Hi, we’re Muskan, Rudraksh & Shantanu, three college friends who somehow ended up building a business together, and yes, we clearly have a shared love for pizza.

We were all moving towards the usual next steps, MBA, job, deadlines and a fast, modern life where everything felt new and practical. But somewhere along the way, we started feeling disconnected from the little things we grew up around.

The crafts, materials, traditions, products  and everyday things that once felt so familiar were slowly disappearing and we started wondering if moving forward really meant leaving all of that behind.

We didn’t think so.

That’s what led to Urban Kalakari, our attempt to bring a little bit of what we grew up with into the lives we’re building today, while giving it a place in the modern world.

We’re still figuring things out, but that’s the fun part!

About Urban Kalakari

It all began with a simple thought: “Why do Indian classics suddenly feel outdated?”

Not because they were boring.

But because somewhere along the way, they stopped feeling like our vibe.

The things we grew up around had stories, memories, meaning, and a strange kind of comfort. But somewhere between “this is traditional” and “this is not trendy anymore,” they slowly started losing their place in our everyday lives.

And that bothered us enough to do something about it. Because India is not plain. India is not dull. India is not beige, silent, or serious.

So we decided to give Indian classics a glow-up.

That is how Urban Kalakari began, with the idea of making Indian classics feel cool, current, expressive and worth carrying into everyday life again.

Because India is not plain. India is not dull. India is not beige, silent, or serious.

India is colour. Chaos. Emotion. Drama. Nostalgia. Wit. Warmth. And a whole lot of personality.

So we decided to give Indian classics a glow-up.

That is how Urban Kalakari began, with the idea of making Indian classics feel cool, current, expressive and worth carrying into everyday life again.
