The things we grew up around had stories, memories, meaning, and a strange kind of comfort. But somewhere between “this is traditional” and “this is not trendy anymore,” they slowly started losing their place in our everyday lives.
And that bothered us enough to do something about it. Because India is not plain. India is not dull. India is not beige, silent, or serious.
So we decided to give Indian classics a glow-up.
That is how Urban Kalakari began, with the idea of making Indian classics feel cool, current, expressive and worth carrying into everyday life again.

India is colour. Chaos. Emotion. Drama. Nostalgia. Wit. Warmth. And a whole lot of personality.
So we decided to give Indian classics a glow-up.
That is how Urban Kalakari began, with the idea of making Indian classics feel cool, current, expressive and worth carrying into everyday life again.
Our Story
Hi, we’re Muskan and Rudraksh.
Two 23-year-olds doing what most people around us were doing, MBA, work, deadlines and slowly stepping into a fast life where everything feels new, modern, and “practical.”
But the more we moved towards this life, the more we felt ourselves moving away from the little things we grew up around.
And we don’t think moving ahead with time is wrong. But leaving behind everything that once felt so close to us didn’t feel right either. Maybe the answer was never to choose one over the other, but to find a balance, where a little bit of the old changes with us, and a little bit of us stays connected to the old.
It wasn’t one big moment. It was in small conversations, family memories, old habits, and random nostalgic talks where we kept realising how many things from our childhood were slowly disappearing from everyday life.
And that thought stayed with us. That’s where this journey began.
Not because we had everything figured out.
